Matt Kirklewski was a firefighter who was left permanently disabled after falling through a floor during a rescue. Amazingly he pushed through his pain to begin restoring a house for his wife and daughter. He was able to successfully complete 90% of the house before getting sick. The garage however still needed to be replaced. Matt died last summer of cancer that most likely induced in his body during his volunteer service at the World Trade Center site immediately following 9/11.
Kingdom Prep High School was created to meet the needs of at-risk male teenagers. Part of the curriculum involves trade education the other is to serve the community. They do this primarily through service projects of neighbors in need.
Thus the school took on the project to build a garage for Matt’s wife and daughter. Through fundraising and donations, they acquired everything they need expect for the concrete for the driveway and garage slab.
Enter Riv/Crete Ready Mix who agreed to assist the Kirklewski family and partner with Kingdom Prep School. The result was an amazing project for the family and partnership between Kingdom Prep and Riv/Crete.

“The credit is due to the Riv-Crete team for supplying in spec material on a timely basis all night even as ice rates were modified throughout the pour to keep temps where they needed to be. WisDOT IA rep who was on site commented that he had seen less than a dozen deck pours of that size have in spec material the entire pour.”
